Vepsa's.... Seriously???

What the fuck is wrong with some people.  How could anyone in their right mind not only buy one of these things,   but actually get on one, and go out in public?  They are nothing more than a glorified bicycle.  No, check that, they’re worse.  Because at least the asshole I pull up behind on the bicycle will eventually get off the road and get out of the way, even if it does take a little “convincing”.  Nope, the Vespa, complete with its jerk off rider, will just putt along in front of you, barely doing 25, completely oblivious to the fact that he’s screwing up traffic for kilometers behind him.  It’s his right you know.  He’s green, he’s not relying on our limited supply of fossil fuels to get around town.  He’s doing us a favour.  We should thank him, and thank him repeatedly.  What a great guy.  I promise you this much, regardless of your burning desire to be environmentally friendly, or how much you care about our mother earth, that Vespa bullshit is only a good idea on paper.  You know what else was a good idea on paper?  Communism.  Ask the USSR how that worked out.  Nope, the moment you have somewhere to be, or heaven forbid a schedule to at least try to maintain, then that great idea on paper goes right out the window.  That’s when the horns start blaring, the voices get raised, and no one gives a damn about anything ozone related period.  And what is the response of our oh-so-“friendly” rider?  Well this great guy that is doing us all the mother of all favours sticks up his middle finger and tells us, who want nothing more than to travel at least the speed limit, to “go fuck ourselves.”  You know he spent anywhere between $2500 and $7500 for that damn thing.          Pause.         Now it all makes sense.  Anyone who can spend $7500 on something so fucking absurd, obviously has very little to worry about in their lives.  Why should they care about anyone else on the road? Anyone who would like to get from point A to point B in what, in all honesty, even at the speed limit, isn’t a reasonable time frame (but that’s another blog all together). He probably bought that stupid god damn thing just to impress his boyfriend, or piss off his father.  Yeah, you got that reference right.  You’re the last thing he cares about.  His lapdog in his purse is his best friend.  Not you. If the word “doucebag” ever gets into the dictionary, and don’t worry, I’ve started a petition already, then I sure hope the definition comes with a picture of swan dick on his shiny red, environmentally friendly, albeit inner city not, Vespa.  Fucking up traffic, on a very busy street, somewhere in a very busy city, with buses, cars trucks and everyone with anything to do stuck behind him, just waiting to be able to get passed him, to give him our dearest most sincere thanks!

Intro, Blog and Baby Girl

Allow me to introduce myself.  I go by the moniker The BusDriva.  I work for the TTC in Toronto, and currently live somewhere in York Region.  I'm a 33 year old male, single, that fills my days by going to the gym, watching drama  shows on TV, and of course working.  Ive been accused, repeatedly, of having interesting shit to say, coupled with an incredible ability to be in the right place at the right time, so as to witness some of the cities finer, and of course, not so finer moments in life.  I also keep a varied collection of friends, who always seem to be up to something, or just finding themselves in compelling situations, of which I gladly and thoroughly provide colour commentary on.  My humour is a mixture of dark reality (which, when your not the subject, is one of the funniest styles imaginable) coupled with edgy noir, and a healthy serving of thought provoking sarcasm.  Regularly people look at me, with this glare that screams, how does this shit even come to your mind? A question I cant answer, and often even ask of myself.  The truth is, I see things in a different manner then you do.  I think rationally, and try not to (try being the operative word) let emotion figure into my interpretation of the days activities.  This allows me to both digest, and comprehend said activities and find the humour in almost any situation.  You may be offended occasionally, that is assuming anyone out there is actually reading this, proving that there are in fact people with less to do then me.  You may think I'm an asshole, you may think I'm provocative.  You may be the same person as me, or the complete opposite, but what I urge you to do, is take this for what it is, a blog, written by a person, as an outlet for a mind containing musings that would otherwise be completely wasted without a channel to express himself.  Come once, come often, tell your friends, forget it ever happened.  Do what you will.  Because at the end of the day, I'm going to do me, and that's all that matters to any of us.

On a serious note, 10 years ago today "we lost an angel".  Id like to quickly touch base on that.  I wasnt a huge Aaliyah fan at the time, primarily because I was young, and the only time I ever listened to her music was at the obvious time a early 20's guy would listen to music like that.  I do however remember where I was when I heard the news of her passing.  I was at Waldorf high school in richmond hill, running some pick up, when some guys were talking about it.  I remember thinking, thats horrible, and remember vividly transporting back to the first time I actually heard her music, and saw the impact it had on people.  I was working out in hamilton at the time, and as we walked in the door of the bar we went to that night, we being myself and a guy from work, whom i will call 10.5 (ill keep all identities of friends anonymous, just cause I can). "Are you that somebaody" just started playing, a timbaland laced track, when timbaland was new and fresh, and the crowd went absolutley insane.  I thought, man, they love them some Aaliyah out in hamilton.  The night was set off from that point, the mood was created, and never let up.  Aaliyah had a voice, and still does to this day, thanks to a passionate following that demands she stay somewhat in rotation 10 years later, that takes you away, removes you, albeit temporarily, to a better place.  A place where nothing matters, except her effortlessly riding of whatever beat she is making better.  She is constantly referred to as an angel, because in all honesty, thats what angels should both sound and look like.  She was youthful, elegant, rythmic, sultry, and most important, she was the down to earth well rounded, around the way girl LL sung about ten years earlier.  She was the girl you had your first crush on, the woman you wanted to grow old with, and the beautiful goddess you fantasized about all in one.  And not only did she get parties started, but she had the soulful crooning-esque songs that ended the night aswell, for guys in times when those kind of guys would listen to that music.......   It took time, and maturity, for me to realize this. But good music should take time.  Should get better as it ages.  She, in my opinion, has yet to be replaced by anyone remotley close to her abilities, and I doubt she ever will.  R.I.P. Aaliyah, you rocked the boat, were that somebady and we miss you in ways a four page letter could never describe............
